Aussies Mary and Mike Dew from Darkan W. Australia turned out to help with the litter pick in Rhuddlan Thursday 1st October.   18 members and the 2 Aussies, joined the Rhuddlan Environment Group  in a celebration of  Keep Wales Tidy Week Campaign. The Rhuddlan Environment work well with Gareth Jones Officer for KWT and Drew Tate DCC
The Riverside embankment footpath  has not been visible for many years. To improve the area the Rhuddlan Environment Group started clearing from the footbridge down to the cycle path area last October and have continued to make improvements with the clearing up exercises. Chairperson Brenda Taylor invited Sue Haygarth Regeneration Officer for DCC to promote the groups ideas and many  suggestion for simple low cost  improvements along the river. The ideas from the group have been greeted with approval, after the meetings DCC commissioned Environment Associates to provide a strategy for improvement to the amenity value at the river front which is now under consideration.

In the meantime The Rhuddlan Environment Group wish to make small changes now  to the area by installing 14 benches along the embankment for the benefit of the community and visitors, heritage litter/dog bins, provide salt bins for us in the winter and some planting of shrubs and trees after  DCC ecologist has approved.
